PASIGHAT, June 10: The East Siang District Police has constituted a District Task Force (DTF) to intensify enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations across the district, officials said on Tuesday.

The initiative aims to ensure compliance with the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act by checking the entry of individuals without valid ILPs, preventing unauthorised settlement, and enhancing internal security mechanisms.

According to a statement issued by the police, the DTF will operate through two zonal teams based in Pasighat and Ruksin. The Pasighat team will be led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and include officers from the Special Branch, Pasighat Police Station, Mebo Police Station, and the Women Police Station. The Ruksin team will be headed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), who is also the in-charge SDPO of Ruksin, and comprise officers from the Special Branch, Ruksin Police Station, and Sille-Oyan Police Station.

The Special Branch will lead the verification process through designated field staff, while other team members will carry out ILP enforcement, including random inspections at sensitive and high-footfall areas.

East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities during the verification drives. Residents have been advised to ensure that their domestic workers, tenants, and labourers possess valid identification documents and Inner Line Permits.

Citizens can report suspected violations to the nearest police station or the Special Branch office located at the SP Office in Pasighat.
