Tezu, Jun 13: A preparatory meeting for the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign (SDC) 2025 was held on Friday at the District Secretariat in Lohit, with Deputy Commissioner Kesang Ngurup Damo underscoring the need for inter-departmental coordination, effective communication strategies, and timely resource mobilisation to ensure the campaign’s success.
Chairing the meeting in his capacity as chairman of the district health society, Damo said the objective of achieving zero diarrhoea-related deaths could only be met through collective efforts and strengthened collaboration among departments and grassroots-level workers. He also highlighted the importance of aligning efforts between Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Anganwadi workers to ensure accurate reporting and service delivery.
Senior medical officer at Zonal General Hospital, Tezu, S Towang, outlined the key objectives and focus areas of the upcoming campaign.
Lohit district medical officer CL Manchay presented a detailed overview of the campaign's strategies, including the review of district-level preparedness, operational coordination between departments, and clear role assignments. He also spoke on the importance of ORS and zinc tablet distribution and proposed initiatives for awareness generation through Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities.
Heads of departments, medical officers, and field health workers from across the district participated in the session, expressing support for coordinated implementation of the public health initiative. The STOP Diarrhoea Campaign 2025 is expected to focus on vulnerable areas to reduce the incidence of childhood diarrhoea through preventive and responsive measures.
