Itanagar, Jun 20: In a major push for rural skill development and youth empowerment, the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), under the state Rural Development department, has launched a series of district-level awareness and orientation programmes on the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY).

The campaign aims to educate rural communities, particularly unemployed youth, SHG members, scheduled castes and tribes, women, and persons with disabilities, about the scheme’s benefits and guide them in accessing free training and job placement opportunities.

Highlighting the key advantages of the scheme, ArSRLM emphasised that DDU-GKY offers free training in over 50 trades across 28 states, with assured placements offering salaries of ?6,000 and above.

Beneficiaries also receive free boarding, lodging, uniforms, and study materials, with special provisions for marginalised groups.

The campaign has gained momentum across multiple districts.

On June 17, an orientation session was conducted at the Namlo Dvn MCLF office in Keyi Panyor district by district coordinator Techi Totu. In Kurung Kumey district, over 150 participants attended a mass awareness event on June 19 at Koloriang, which included addresses by ADC Nangram Pingkap and CO Nido Ronnie and was coordinated by Dongche Yasa.

In Leparada, more than 70 people, including SHG members and PRI representatives, took part in a programme at Basar led by Takam Tayu, which featured success stories, spot registrations, and IEC material distribution.

In New Palin undr Kra Daadi district, youth mobilisation was driven by Gyamar Ramayg, while outreach activities in Doimukh under Papum Pare district, targeted school dropouts and job aspirants under the leadership of Techi Takar.

Similar awareness initiatives were also carried out in Lohit, Kamle, and East Siang districts, where community support from gram panchayats, SHGs, and local influencers added momentum to the campaign.

ArSRLM has adopted a multi-pronged outreach strategy to maximize the campaign’s reach and impact.

This includes mobilisation through local institutions, extensive use of social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube, and the dissemination of motivational success stories. Visual communication via posters, banners, and brochures in public spaces has further reinforced messaging at the grassroots.

With rising interest and a surge in candidate registrations, the campaign is already showing positive results.

ArSRLM has reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening mobilisation efforts in partnership with training agencies, government stakeholders, and community networks to ensure broader participation and lasting outcomes for rural youth in the state.
