Itanagar, July 4: BJP spokesperson and advisor to the home and education minister, Mutchu Mithi, on Friday expressed gratitude to both present and former members of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for their contributions to strengthening democratic values in the state, as the Assembly marked its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Speaking to reporters in Itanagar, Mithi said the 50-year journey of the Assembly reflected the collective commitment of legislators across generations toward upholding democratic governance.

“At this golden milestone, we honour not only the eminent past members who laid the foundations of our democracy, but also those serving today who carry forward the legacy with integrity, dedication, and vision,” he said.

The month-long Golden Jubilee celebrations, which will culminate on August 18, will feature a series of commemorative events, including cultural programmes, exhibitions, and special Assembly sessions aimed at reflecting on the state’s legislative journey since its inception in 1975.

The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which began as a 33-member Provisional Assembly, was later expanded to a 60-member House. Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in shaping policy and promoting grassroots democracy in the frontier state.
