Central team assesses flood damages
PASIGHAT, Feb 13: The central inter-ministerial team today visited here and took an aerial survey of the damages caused by the flood, landslides and other natural calamities last year in East Siang district.
East Siang deputy commissioner Tamiyo Tatak submitted a memorandum to the joint secretary, ministry of home affairs, Prakash, who led the six member central team, apprising him on the massive damages caused during the last monsoon in various places of the district.
During the inspection at Poglek Korong, Bosing I zilla parishad member Namuk Taloh informed the visiting team about the flood fury that devastated the WRC fields, horticulture gardens and affected livestock.
The team also visited Sibo-Korong area and assessed the damages caused by the nature’s wrath while also taking note of the damages caused by the Siang river and its tributaries including vital infrastructures, dwelling houses, cultivated lands etc.
Animal husbandry & veterinary minister Dr Mohesh Chai and disaster management parliamentary secretary Kaling Moyong, and WRD parliamentary secretary Gum Tayeng were also present on the occasion.
