Itanagar, Jan 21: NABARD general manager Damodar Mishra, as part of his two-day official visit to Lower Subansiri district, on Tuesday visited Saint Claret College (Autonomous) and engaged in a productive meeting with college principal Dr Allwyn Mendoz and his team led by Dr Utpal Talukdar, controller of examinations.

The meeting was facilitated by Dr Lalit Maurya, the bank’s district development manager.

The meeting focused on exploring collaborative opportunities, particularly in the domain of climate action.

Mishra emphasized NABARD’s ongoing efforts in Arunachal Pradesh, which include partnerships with higher education institutions, state government agencies, and civil society organizations for natural resource management and livelihood enhancement projects.

While interacting with faculty members, the GM encouraged the institution to leverage its expertise and community outreach to develop innovative projects addressing climate change challenges and improving the livelihoods of local communities.

The principal briefed the delegation on the college's recent achievements and ongoing initiatives. He announced that the department of Geography, under the leadership of Dr Utpal Talukdar, would take the lead in preparing a project proposal focusing on climate change and livelihood enhancement for submission to NABARD.

Dr Allwyn also highlighted the potential for collaboration with technical institutions such as NERIST and IITs to strengthen and expand the scope of these initiatives.

The visit underscored NABARD’s commitment to fostering partnerships with academic institutions to address pressing developmental challenges, particularly in rural and climate-vulnerable regions.
