Naharlagun, Jan 17: Naharlagun Police has prohibited the sale, installation, and use of modified bike silencers, citing their role in creating excessive noise and disturbing public peace.
The decision, announced by Superintendent of Police Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo, follows reports of an increase in the use of modified silencers in the region, which violates provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and other relevant laws.
The notice aims to address noise pollution, safeguard public well-being, and maintain peace in the area. According to the order, any individual, shop, or establishment found selling or installing such silencers will face strict legal action.
The police have urged residents and businesses to comply with the order to ensure a peaceful and safer environment in the ICR.
