Pasighat, Jan 21: A three-day district level refresher training on the people’s plan campaign, participatory development index, and localization of sustainable development goals began at the DC’s conference hall here.

The training is being organized by the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR), in collaboration with the East Siang district administration and aims to enhance the preparation of gram panchayat development plans (GPDP) and district panchayat development plans (DPDP) for the district.

EAC (Dev) Olak Apang, who chaired the inaugural session, emphasized the importance of planning and training in every aspect of life, especially in democratic governance.

DPDO Tajing Padung briefed about the aim and objective and benefit of the training program.

The training program is being led by SIRD & PR assistant director and also course coordinator SW Bagang, NIRD & PR Hyderabad consultant S Kundu.

Gram panchayat chairpersons (GPCs) and gram panchayat members (GPMs) from Bogong-I, Bogong-II, Bosing-I and Bosing-II, member secretaries (GP), local self-governance committee members and frontline workers from various line departments and representatives from self-help groups are participating in the training.

The highlights of the training programme are introduction to the people's plan campaign and constitutional provisions, stakeholders’ roles and the GPDP preparation process including discussions on LSDG themes such as poverty-free, health-friendly, and child-friendly villages.
