ITANAGAR, Jun 22: In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Capital unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Police organised a series of sports events at the 1st AAPBn ground in Chimpu, targeting individuals recovering from drug addiction.

The event was held under the theme "The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention."

A total of 37 participants, including one female, enthusiastically competed in events such as a 100-meter race, tug-of- war, and a 650-meter race.

Winners will be recognised and awarded during an awareness program at the Itanagar police station on June 26.

The event also featured an interactive session, where participants shared their experiences and grievances related to drug addiction, fostering a supportive environment for recovery.

This initiative is part of a week-long campaign by the Capital Police to engage and support individuals undergoing rehabilitation, emphasising a victim-centric approach rather than a punitive one.
