ITANAGAR, Jun 26: The directorate of secondary education has announced the State Merit Scholarship Examination for Class VIII students on November 16 next.

The examination aims to identify meritorious students and provide them with financial incentives in the form of scholarships and merit certificates to support their pursuit of quality education, Secondary Education director Marken Kadu said in a press release.

Eligible candidates are those who have successfully passed the Class VIII annual examination in the academic session 2023-24 with an aggregate score of 60 percent or above. These students must now be enrolled in Class IX in government, government-aided, private, or unaided schools in the state.

Application forms for the scholarship examination can be obtained from the respective District Deputy Directors of School Education (DDSE).

Candidates are required to fill out the application form and submit it along with the necessary documents, duly countersigned by the head of their institution.

The completed application should be sent directly to the "Director of Secondary Education," Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar – 791111, in a super-scribed envelope marked "Application for State Merit Scholarship, 2024."

The deadline for submission of applications is August 31 while the admit cards for selected candidates will be available for collection by school authorities during the first week of October 2024 from the directorate of secondary education office, Itanagar (academic branch), during office hours.

Required documents for the application include two recent passport-sized photographs, one pasted on the application form and one extra, a Xerox copy of the Class VIII passed mark sheet of the annual examination 2023-24, duly attested by the head of the institution, and a self-addressed envelope with a requisite postage stamp of Rs.25 for the registered post of the admit card.
