NAHARLAGUN, July 2: The Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHE&WS) department will deploy water tankers in the localities severely affected by rain-induced water supply disruptions.

Following a heavy downpour over the past week, the water supply system in both urban and rural areas of the Naharlagun Division has been significantly disrupted, an official said.

The department will deploy water tankers to Polo Colony, Pachin, Nirjuli, and Lekhi urban areas, as well as Sood, Borum, and Tarajuli villages under Lekhi and Nirjuli panchayats, and Rakap Sanglum village.

PHE&WS assistant engineer Tamchi Syam has urged affected residents to cooperate with the department as they work to restore normal water supply.

Even after restoration efforts are completed, it may take 2 to 3 days for the water supply to normalize, he disclosed.

“We are doing everything in our power to ensure that essential water supply services are restored as swiftly as possible,” Syam said.

Meanwhile, the department has advised residents to use water judiciously during this period of disruption while assuring them that all possible measures are being taken to minimize inconvenience.
