TAWANG, July 5: The district level committee meeting on the ‘One District One Product’ initiative convened at the DC’s office here unanimously approved the Monpa local bags as the primary product and heritage homestays as the secondary product for the Tawang district under the initiative.

The meeting was led under the leadership of deputy commissioner Kanki Darang.

DC Darang emphasized the importance of selecting products that reflect the district's identity, citing successful examples from other states and districts.

Various proposals were discussed during the session: Farmer Produce Companies suggested exotic vegetables like broccoli, while Women Self-Help Groups proposed local sweets and cuisines.

Earlier, Industries deputy director Tsering Drema outlined the programme's objective to promote balanced regional development nationwide.

Venus Vijay, from the Project Management Unit (PMU) for ODOP, also contributed insights during the deliberations.
