ITANAGAR, Jul 8: Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar met with Governor KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, to discuss harnessing the state's hydropower potential and enhancing urban amenities.

During the meeting, the governor highlighted that the state possesses a significant portion of India's hydropower potential, with more than 58,000 MW of untapped resources. He emphasized the strategic importance of the state due to its geographical location and natural resources, stressing the need to develop its hydropower capabilities to meet both regional and national energy demands. The governor noted that the state's natural terrain and water resources present an attractive opportunity for hydropower development, benefiting both the state and the nation.

Parnaik said that developing hydropower in the state aligns with India's renewable energy goals and will significantly boost the state's economic development. He highlighted that inclusive development through hydropower projects would facilitate rapid progress in the region.

Khattar assured the governor of his ministry's full support in providing the necessary assistance to the state for these initiatives.
