ITANAGAR, Jul 8: The Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) convened a review meeting on centrally sponsored schemes,attended by Minister for Women and Child Development Dasanglu Pul and advisor Tsering Lhamu.

In her keynote address, WCD secretary Mimum Tayeng welcomed the new ministers and congratulated them on their roles. The session began with self-introductions of all officers and officials present. Director of WCD, TP Loyi, provided an overview of the department's organizational setup and its functions.

Detailed presentations were made by state nodal officers on various schemes.

The meeting aimed to evaluate the progress of women and child welfare schemes, address challenges, and strategize for better implementation across the state. This effort reflects the government's commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of these schemes for the benefit of women and children in the state.

In her speech, Pul expressed gratitude to chief minister Pema Khandu for the opportunity to serve in her role, highlighting his commitment to the women of the state. She commended the WCD department for its tireless efforts in implementing government policies and programs that significantly benefit women and children.

Lhamu also thanked Khandu for his trust and for appointing her as the advisor. She emphasized the need for opportunities to empower women, sharing her own experience as an example. She praised the department's initiatives, such as releasing comic books on the POCSO Act and creating awareness videos on the safety of women and children. She advocated for more awareness and sensitization programs, especially in remote districts, to ensure everyone is informed about government legislation, programs, and policies.
