ITANAGAR, Jul 9: Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met Governor KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan to explore avenues for marketing the state's horticulture, textile, and handicrafts products in national and international markets.

During the meeting, the governor highlighted the significant production of horticultural products, particularly kiwi, in Arunachal Pradesh. He emphasized that with proper assistance from the ministry, local farmers could greatly benefit economically. The governor suggested the introduction of freight trains and cold storage facilities to support the socio-economic development of the state.

Furthermore, the governor discussed the unique expertise in textiles and handicrafts among the local communities of the state. He stressed that this traditional knowledge, particularly among women who are primarily engaged in weaving, requires promotion and support to boost economic development. The governorand Goyal also agreed on the need for youth skill development in line with the industries being considered for establishment in the state.

In response, Goyal assured the governor that his ministry would explore various means to actively support the progress of the people and the state.
