NAMSAI, Jul 9: A training session on the new criminal laws for executive magistrates and district administration officials was held today at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall in Namsai.

The session was led by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Namsai, Mary Jonnam, who provided comprehensive illustrations on the new criminal laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA).

Jonnam emphasized that these laws aim to ensure timely and speedy justice, enhance accountability and transparency, and adopt a victim-centric approach. She also explained the concepts of zero-FIR and e-FIR, along with other significant changes introduced in the new laws.

The interactive session included discussions on the roles of executive magistrates in implementing these laws. Attendees included the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Namsai, ADC Chongkham, executive assistant commissioner (EAC), circle officers from Namsai, Piyong, Chongkham, and Lathao, and other officials from the district administration.

The training session aimed to equip officials with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively implement the new criminal laws, ensuring justice and security in the district.
