NIRJULI, Jul 16: The 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), in collaboration with NCC Group HQ Tezpur, has launched the "One Cadet - One Tree" campaign during the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-58) at NERIST here.
This initiative, part of NCC's Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) activities, aligns with the Government of India's "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" and #Plant4Mother initiatives launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister on World Environment Day.
Approximately 200 NCC cadets participated in the campaign, each planting a tree and pledging to nurture it throughout their NCC tenure.
This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and youth involvement in creating a greener planet.
NERIST director in-charge Prof S Gao praised the cadets' efforts.
“This campaign is a commendable step towards instilling environmental stewardship among the youth. It not only enhances our ecosystem but also cultivates a sense of responsibility and care for nature among cadets,” he said.
Commanding Officer of 1 Arunachal Pradesh Bn NCC, expressed gratitude to range forest officer Bijoy Dupit for providing 200 saplings, enabling the successful execution of the campaign.
The "One Cadet - One Tree" campaign underscores the importance of individual actions in achieving environmental goals, a press release said.
It encourages community participation and shared responsibility towards environmental conservation, aiming to foster cleaner air, reduced soil erosion, and enhanced biodiversity in the region, the release added.
