PASIGHAT, July 21: The East Siang branch of the Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA) on Sunday conducted a cleanliness drive at Komlighat here.

The drive, themed, ‘Plastic Free Drive for Pasighat’ was led by East Siang APDA president Dr Talung Tali and was participated by doctors and members of Mirmir Bulls.

Around 3 tons of trash including plastics and bottles, etc., were collected and properly disposed of by using trucks engaged by the Pasighat Municipal Council.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr Tali said that it is everyone’s responsibility including visitors and vendors doing business there, not to throw garbage and litter the place, as the wastes have been generated by us.

A single plastic chips packet that we throw around grows into thousands of kg of wastes over a period. If we as citizens are mindful of this fact, cleanliness drives like this won’t be necessary, he added.

Mirmir Bulls secretary Otel Darin said the scenic beauty of the Siang River and its surroundings is God's gift to us and it’s our responsibility not to spoil it.

He lauded the doctors for taking this initiative in cleaning Komlighat, as it also creates awareness on the importance of keeping our places of tourist interest clean.
