NAHARLAGUN, Jul 21: Don Bosco School emerged as the champion of the U-9 Arunachal Blue Cubs League 2024, defeating Dawnlit Academy 5-0 in the final match held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, Kombo Weekend FC secured a 2-0 victory against Highland Academy in the third-place match, also held at the same venue.
The Arunachal Blue Cubs League 2024, featuring both U-9 and U-12 categories, is organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) in collaboration with ISL side Northeast United FC.
The U-9 league concluded today after a month-long competition, while the U-12 league is still ongoing.
The final and third-place matches were attended by APFA senior vice-president Kipa Takum and vice president John Neelam along with members from District Football Associations (DFAs), who came to support the players and the organizing committee.
This mixed-gender competition is part of an initiative to encourage young children to stay active and engage in physical activities alongside their studies.
The matches are scheduled exclusively on weekends, with four teams competing in the U-9 category and eight teams participating in the U-12 category in this inaugural edition of the league.
