KHONSA, July 24: Tirap deputy commissioner Ira Singhal distributed five Large Cardamom Mobile Solar Driers to beneficiaries from the villages of Hunkan, Moktowa, Lower Kolam, New Lainwang, and Raho on Wednesday.

The distribution was conducted under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme for the year 2023-24.

During the event, Singhal emphasized that the solar driers, though issued in individual names, should be utilized collectively by all farmers in the respective villages for drying agricultural produce. She also directed the technical officials of the horticulture department to ensure proper training for the beneficiaries on the operation of the solar driers.

The driers, manufactured by Rudra Solar Energy, have a drying capacity of 45 kilograms and are primarily designed for drying large cardamom. However, they can also be used for drying spices, fruits, and vegetables. The event was attended by District Horticulture Officer Projjwal Dev and other staff members.
