Itanagar, Aug 5: Acting on reliable information, the Naharlagun police conducted a successful operation on the intervening night of August 4 and 5, resulting in the arrest of two individuals involved in drug peddling.
Naharlagun police station officer-in-charge inspector Krishnendu Dev led the operation with a team comprising sub-inspector N Rama, head constables Tage Hailang, T K Kochi and Dusu Tachang, constables N Wangsa, R Tajo, Gyammar Ruju and lady constables Taba Nime and Gyammar Yachu.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo and SDPO Paul Jerang.
The operation targeted a youth found in possession of contraband heroin in the market area. The suspect, identified as Jun Sonam (40), from Damsite Colony, was apprehended with seven vials of suspected heroin weighing 9.3 grams.
Further interrogation revealed that Sonam had received the heroin from Dalang Tabe (37), also from Damsite, for distribution.
Acting on this lead, the police proceeded to Tabe’s residence. A search of his rented room in Tigdo Colony uncovered 23 plastic vials containing suspected heroin (31.1 grams), Rs 16,900 in cash, one used syringe, and 22 empty vials.
The total quantity of suspected heroin seized was 40.4 grams.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Naharlagun police station against the apprehended individuals.
