ROING, Aug 7: A review meeting of the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee (DCWPC) was held here on Tuesday to assess the Action Plan for 2024-2025.
The meeting, organized by the District Child Protection Unit under the Department of Women and Child Development, was chaired by Lower Dibang Valley deputy commissioner and DCWPC chairperson Soumya Saurabh.
The meeting saw the participation of several key officials, including Dambuk ADC T R Tapu, DMO Dr Worar Taku, Roing CDPO Chanda Miso, assistant DLSA Obi Jopir, DPO Willian Chautang and DCPU officials.
DC Saurabh proposed the inclusion of student unions, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers in the action plan to enhance its effectiveness through diverse activities while ICDS deputy director G A Perying emphasized the significance of the review meeting.
Protection Officer Napi Meto presented a summary of activities conducted in collaboration with various departments and stakeholders aimed at ensuring a healthy and happy childhood for every child.
The presentation highlighted awareness programs on Child Rights, Child Labour, Illegal Adoption, Child Marriage, Child Abuse, the 1098 (CHL) helpline, the POCSO Amended Act 2019, and the JJ (CPC) Amended Act 2021.
It was noted that these awareness programmes reached 33 schools, 4 Self Help Groups, and 3 Tea Gardens.
The meeting also reviewed the annual action plan for 2024-25, including Children Sponsorship, Adoption cases, CNCP cases under CWC, and CCL Cases under Juvenile Justice Board.
