AALO, Aug 7: The inaugural basin-wise consultative meeting for the formulation of the Innovative State Youth Policy 2024 (Siang Chapter) was held today at the West Siang Deputy Commissioner's conference hall in Aalo. The meeting, chaired by deputy commissioner Mamu Hage, was organized by the department of youth affairs in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU).
Associate professor at RGU Dr KP Singh presented the state government's Youth Policy through a presentation. Highlighting the declaration of 2024 as the 'Year of the Youth', director of youth affairs Ramesh Linggi emphasized the importance of the state Youth Policy to the participants.
Lower Siang deputy commissioner Rujjum Raksap stressed the need to engage the youth in various sectors, establish a strong educational foundation, and organize calendar events in schools and villages.
Hage underscored the importance of skill development for the youth. She highlighted the necessity for young people to leverage information technology positively and the significance of career counseling and vocational training.
Representatives from various community-based organizations (CBOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), student organizations, and administrative officers from different districts shared their innovative youth policies, ideas, and suggestions during the meeting. Similar consultative meetings are scheduled to be conducted across the state in regions such as Kameng, Subansiri, and Lohit.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamba, Tomo Riba, expressed gratitude to participants from various districts and urged them to encourage the youth for their livelihood.
