Itanagar, Aug 17: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik appealed to the youth to join the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), and be a part of the global organisation in the service of humanity.
Parnaik, who released the annual activity report 2023-24 of the IRCS Arunachal Pradesh State Branch at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, said the Red Cross is more than an organisation; it’s a movement dedicated to saving lives, providing relief, and fostering a spirit of humanitarianism.
Sharing his experience in working in the Red Cross Society under the UN Mission in foreign countries, the governor said that by joining you get the chance to work alongside like-minded individuals, gain valuable skills, and make a tangible impact on the lives of people in need.
He said that their commitment to the Red Cross principles implies humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality and serves as a beacon of hope in our state and our country.
Parnaik, who is the president of the Indian Red Cross Society Arunachal Pradesh State Branch, praised the members of the IRCS Arunachal Pradesh State Branch volunteers for the good work they have carried out during 2023-24.
“You have been on the front lines of disaster relief, providing first aid in times of crisis, and supporting blood donation drives and your efforts have brought comfort and solace to so many,” he said.
The governor also praised the National Service Scheme members and Bharat Scouts and Guides, who participated in many social activities carried out by the Red Cross Society.
He advised the Red Cross volunteers of the state to motivate more and more people to join the Red Cross organization and enhance the number of enthusiastic volunteers to be the first responders in time of need for helping the society.
Parnaik urged them to continue to build an environment where compassion knows no bounds, where every act of kindness brings us closer to a better and just world, we all aspire to create.
IRCSAPSB honorary secretary Dr Emi Rumi briefed about the annual report.
