PASIGHAT, Aug 21: The Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) in Pasighat has taken a proactive step in promoting entrepreneurship by organizing a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme along with the inauguration of an Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) on its campus. The event, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurial skills among participants, is part of the college's broader mission to empower local talent and encourage self-reliance in the East Siang district.
The event began with the official inauguration of the EDC by JNC principal Tasi Taloh. The inaugural ceremony featured an exhibition of locally crafted products, including a variety of handicrafts and baked goods, highlighting the creativity and entrepreneurial potential of the participants.
In his address, Taloh praised the participants for their innovation and dedication, urging them to continue pursuing entrepreneurial ventures. He emphasized the role of entrepreneurship in addressing unemployment and stressed the need to promote and develop local products that have the potential for global reach.
Vice-principal Leki Sitang also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the critical role entrepreneurs play in driving regional economic development. The programme coordinator, Nang Rasami Thamoung, provided insights into the event's objectives, while associate professors DP Panda and Agin Taboh from the commerce department led sessions on "Business Development and Planning," drawing inspiration from the success stories of local entrepreneurs.
The awareness programme, conducted in three batches from August 19 to 21, saw the participation from around 120 individuals.
The initiative was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre at JNC Pasighat in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, and was sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong. The event underscores the importance of entrepreneurship in the region's development and the role of academic institutions in nurturing future business leaders.
