PASIGHAT, Aug 31: The five-day entrepreneurship development programme successfully concluded at the Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat on Saturday.

The programme was organised by the college’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati and sponsored by the North Eastern Council, Shillong.

The event aimed at promoting entrepreneurial culture among the youth of East Siang district and was attended by selected participants with promising business ideas.

Following a rigorous selection process, 30 participants were chosen from a pool of 120 applicants, divided into three batches of EDPs of 10 participants each to compete for a grand prize of Rs 5 lakhs, by showcasing their innovative business ideas and receiving guidance from industry experts.

The EDP featured a series of sessions led by a diverse array of resource persons, Industrial experts and local entrepreneur Ninna Lego, founder of house of Macnok Pvt Ltd. An academician and Herbologist Dr Temin Payum shared their insights on the entrepreneurial journey, focusing on identifying market opportunities, overcoming challenges, and building sustainable business models. Her presentations included case studies and real-world examples, providing participants with valuable perspectives on what it takes to succeed in the competitive business landscape.

East Siang district Industries centre extension officer Upendra Prasad outlined government schemes and support systems for entrepreneurs and highlighted some key aspects of the business proposal.

NEDFi’s assistant general manager Gunin Mattach and executive officer Joibumsang Hrongkhol highlighted the roles of NEDFIs in promoting MSMEs in the NE region. They offered detailed guidance on developing business proposals and pitching.

Veterinary officer Yangkee Tayeng and Horticulture officer Aido Taloh presented sessions on the potential of Horti-business in the district.

They highlighted opportunities in livestock management, organic farming, and value-added agricultural products. The duo provided participants with practical knowledge on tapping into the region’s rich horticultural resources to create profitable enterprises.

College’s Department of Commerce head Dr DP Panda, who provided a theoretical foundation in entrepreneurship, emphasized innovation, resilience, and networking.

The program included workshops, group discussions, and practical sessions, enhancing participants' understanding of entrepreneurship and providing them with the skills needed to launch successful ventures.

JN College principal Dr Tasi Taloh praised the initiative and expressed gratitude to IIE Guwahati and NEC Shillong for their support.

He highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students and the broader community.
