Tezu, Sep 4: In a bid to elevate the communication skills of his team, Lohit Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tumme Amo has introduced a pioneering English coaching initiative at the SSP office.

Launched in June, the programme aims to tackle the common challenges officers face in drafting official documents—ranging from letters and circulars to orders, notices, memos, and file notes.

Held once weekly, these coaching sessions are tailored to refine the participants' language proficiency, enhancing their ability to communicate with clarity and professionalism.

SSP Tumme Amo, who is personally spearheading the programme, is deeply involved in both conducting the classes and shaping its development.

In an exclusive interview, Amo underscored the significance of this initiative.

“Effective communication is the backbone of our work. By honing our language skills, we not only improve the quality of our documentation but also ensure greater clarity and professionalism in our interactions. This programme is our response to the prevalent issue of inadequate language skills observed across various offices, including our own,” he said.

Looking ahead, SSP Amo has ambitious plans to expand the initiative.

He intends to enlist the support of the DDSE to provide a qualified English teacher for 1-2 hours of instruction each week.

“This collaboration will allow us to extend the program’s reach and benefit more personnel,” Amo explained.

“The English coaching initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Lohit police force. By equipping officers with enhanced language skills, I am trying to ensure that all personnel can perform their duties with increased competence and professionalism,” Amo said. (NewsFy)
