RONO HILLS, Sep 7: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) observed Swachhata Pakhwada-2024 with a plantation drive, taking a meaningful step towards promoting cleanliness, sanitation, hygiene, and greenery on campus.
The event was attended by over 200 students, faculty, and staff members, with more than 100 trees planted near the university’s new playground. The plantation drive was led by vice-chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha and RGU finance officer Prof Otem Padung, setting an example for others to follow.
Swachhata Pakhwada is a 15-day initiative by the Ministry of Education aimed at raising awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental sustainability. RGU’s active participation in this initiative reflects the institution’s dedication to maintaining a clean and healthy environment both on campus and beyond.
Through this campaign, RGU hopes to foster a sense of responsibility among its stakeholders to uphold a clean and green environment, aligning with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a free, clean, and developed India. The university plans to continue organizing similar events throughout the year to further its commitment to environmental responsibility.
