Itanagar, Sep 11: Acting on reliable intelligence, Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a heroin trafficking case in the Papu Nallah area.

The operation, carried out under Operation Dawn, was led by a team including Papu Hills police station officer-in-charge inspector T Mai, sub-inspector A K Jha, head constable J Lego and constables P Halder and P Saikia.

The suspects, identified as Techi Lej Tara (34) and Dilwar Hussain (36), were allegedly involved in selling heroin in the Borum area under Papu Nallah's jurisdiction.

Following credible information, the police, under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo and SDPO Paul Jerang, moved promptly to the location.

Upon arrival, the suspects attempted to escape in a vehicle. A pursuit ensued, leading to their apprehension near the Banderdewa Check Gate.

A search revealed six vials containing approximately 7.570 grams of suspected heroin from the possession of Tara.

The vehicle used by the suspects was also seized for further investigation.

Both individuals have been arrested under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and further investigations are ongoing.
