DOIMUKH, Nov 2: Fourth-year agriculture students from Rajiv Gandhi University’s Faculty of Agricultural Sciences organized a demonstration-cum-awareness program as part of their Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) initiative on Friday at Lekhi Village, Sopo, under Doimukh circle. The event aimed to bridge knowledge gaps among local farmers and was attended by villagers, students, and university faculty.

RAWE co-coordinator Dr Bai Koyu highlighted the significance of rural development programs and advancements in agriculture, emphasizing that such demonstration activities play a vital role in empowering farmers with practical skills to improve productivity and resilience.

RAWE coordinator Dr Avicha Tangjang addressed the importance of maintaining field sanitation to prevent diseases and enhance crop quality. She also encouraged participants to develop entrepreneurial skills to succeed in today’s agricultural sector.

The students demonstrated various agricultural techniques, including the preparation of Jeevamrutha, a bio-fertilizer to boost soil health, and the construction of a zero-energy cool chamber, an affordable solution for preserving produce. They also demonstrated proper soil collection techniques for effective soil testing and management.

Additionally, information sessions were held on government schemes aimed at supporting farmers and rural communities. These included the Chief Minister’s Agriculture Farm Mechanization scheme, Atma Nirbhar Krishi Yojana, Atma Nirbhar Bagwani Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana, Dulari Kanya scheme, and Vidya Scheme.
