Aalo, Jan 24: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday inaugurated multiple central development projects in West Siang district, emphasizing the region's potential for growth and innovation.

At the valedictory event of the Arunachal Pineapple Festival (APF) at Bagra, in the district, the union Parliamentary Affairs minister shared his vision of elevating the festival to a national level.

He highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s fertile soil, particularly in Bagra and nearby areas, as ideal for pineapple cultivation, aiming to establish the state on India’s pineapple production map.

Rijiju urged farmers to adopt organic farming practices, avoiding artificial chemicals, and assured government support in building infrastructure to make Arunachal the “Fruit Bowl of India.”

He also outlined the state’s achievements in connectivity through border roads, electricity, and mobile networks, encouraging residents to capitalize on these advancements to boost agricultural productivity.

The minister announced plans to construct a sports stadium in Darka village, providing opportunities for local youth.

He further noted Arunachal's rising GDP as a sign of economic growth and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and fostering regional development.

State Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini echoed Rijiju’s appeal for organic pineapple farming.

He highlighted state-provided sports facilities and incentives for young entrepreneurs and farmers under various schemes.

Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) mayor Tame Phassang also addressed the gathering, commending the ongoing initiatives for local growth.
