Boleng, Jan 27: A fire broke out at Raja Colony in Boleng town on Republic Day, leaving two barracks and five houses completely gutted while five other houses sustained partial damage. No casualties have been reported in the incident, which occurred around 1:50 pm.
Town magistrate Mihin Sonia, deputy superintendent of police Sange Tenzin, and Siang Police officials quickly reached the site to assess the situation and oversee relief measures. Fire brigade units from Aalo and Geku were deployed to control the blaze, as the fire brigade infrastructure in Rengo is still under construction. Their timely intervention prevented further damage.
The district administration has relocated affected families to the unoccupied Girls' Hostel at BK Mission School, providing essential relief materials such as blankets, bedsheets, mattresses, and food supplies.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have assured the affected residents of continued assistance.
