Itanagar, Jan 30: The District Tourism Office, Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), on Thursday organized a one-day handholding workshop on ‘Local Food Menu Planning cum Presentation and eGRAS Mode of Payment’ for new registration and renewal of homestay licenses at Alub Naam Homestay here to mark National Tourism Day 2025.
The workshop aimed to enhance the culinary skills of homestay owners while promoting digital transactions for seamless and transparent business operations.
Speaking on the occasion, tourism officer Rechi Lugnya Likha emphasized the role of local cuisine in attracting tourists, stating that traditional food plays a crucial role in enriching visitor experiences.
She also underscored the significance of digital payment systems like eGRAS, which streamline transactions and facilitate homestay registration and renewal.
Entrepreneur and resource person Dunya Bagra highlighted the importance of taste and food presentation techniques, urging homestay owners to refine their culinary skills while maintaining the authenticity of traditional dishes.
Senior tour operator Yomjum Yomgam spoke about self-employment opportunities in the homestay and tourism sector, emphasizing its potential for income generation and sustainable tourism development in the region.
The event concluded with a live presentation of local cuisine by homestay operators, including Taying Shakuntala (TS Homestay), Nabam Dimin (Dimum Homestay) and Likha Cherie (Alub Naam Homestay).
Their culinary showcases highlighted the rich flavors and innovative plating techniques that reinforce Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural heritage.
