Itanagar, Jan 31: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has urged the home department and the state government to recommend Inspector Minli Geyi for the President’s Gallantry Police Medal in recognition of his bravery and commitment to duty.
Inspector Geyi, officer-in-charge of Seppa police station, displayed exemplary courage in tackling an armed assailant at General Hospital Seppa on November 14, 2024. The attacker, armed with a machete, killed four people, including his wife and daughter, and injured several others. Acting on an emergency call from the hospital, Inspector Geyi and his team rushed to the scene and intercepted the assailant. CoSAAP expressed gratitude to the state government, led by chief minister Pema Khandu, for conferring the State Gold Medal on Inspector Geyi and Constable Jimkam Khomrang on Republic Day for their service.
The association also lauded the state government for approving mass promotions of senior police personnel to the ranks of Head Constable, Assistant Sub-Inspector, and Sub-Inspector. It urged the Home department to expedite recruitment to fill vacancies created by the promotions.
Commending the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) police for its efforts in tackling the drug menace, CoSAAP called for strict action against drug peddlers, emphasizing that drug abuse poses a serious threat to society. It also demanded the dismissal of government employees found involved in drug trafficking or consumption to set a strong precedent.
