Pasighat, Jan 31: East Siang police have recovered a stolen motorcycle and arrested two individuals in connection with the theft, following an investigation based on a complaint filed earlier this month.

The case, registered under section 303(2) of the BNS, was initiated after Dondup Choiphel reported the theft of his KTM Duke 200 from his residence in Jarkong, Pasighat, on the night of January 8.

East Siang superintendent of police Pankaj Lamba stated that intelligence inputs led the police to a KTM service centre in Dhemaji, Assam, where the stolen bike was traced. A coordinated operation was conducted under his supervision and the guidance of sub-divisional police officer Dr Akanksha Milind Tamgadge.

A police team led by sub-inspector Kodak Dagium of Pasighat Police Station and sub-inspector Igel Lollen, officer-in-charge of Ruksin Police Station, tracked the suspect’s location and, with the support of Jonai Police, apprehended Harinath Doley (23), resident of No.1 Milonpur, Laimekuri, Assam. The stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession.

Further interrogation led to the arrest of Bishnu Pegu (33), resident of Bijoypur, Jonai, Assam, who had sold the stolen vehicle to Doley.

Both accused were formally arrested and produced before the court. Pasighat Police stated that efforts would continue to solve other cases and strengthen public safety through proactive policing.
