Itanagar, Feb 7: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday staged a peaceful protest on Friday at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan here, condemning the recent deportation of Indian migrants by the United States.
Led by APCC president Nabam Tuki and vice president Mina Toko, along with other senior party leaders, the protest drew Congress workers and supporters who held placards and raised slogans against the mistreatment of Indian migrants and the Indian government’s lack of response.
Addressing the gathering, Tuki criticized the ‘inhumane’ deportation process, which reportedly involved Indian migrants being sent back in handcuffs on a US aircraft. He described the incident as a violation of human rights and urged the Indian government to take immediate action.
Toko echoed Tuki’s sentiments, stating that the treatment of Indian citizens abroad was unacceptable. She also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the matter, demanding a firm response to protect the rights and dignity of Indian migrants.
The APCC leaders called for diplomatic intervention to ensure such incidents do not happen again. They also emphasized the need for policy reforms to safeguard Indian citizens facing deportation and mistreatment abroad.
The protest ended with a strong message urging justice and accountability on the international stage. PTI
