Aalo, Feb 10: The West Siang education department on Monday, hosted an awareness programme here, which was held under the ‘Pakke Declaration Eco Club,’ aligned with the Pakke Declaration on Climate Change Resilient & Responsive Arunachal Pradesh.

The event brought together around 250 students from GHSS Aalo, GHSS Nehru Memorial, and nearby upper primary schools in the district.

Key resource persons, including RFO Yide Potom, anti-drug campaigner Kennedy Bagra health department official Ajen Pujen and UD & Housing JE Torik Ori, shed light on the declaration’s five themes: Environment, Forest & Climate Change; Health & Well-being for All; Sustainable & Adaptive Living; Livelihoods & Opportunities; and Evidence Generation & Collaborative Actions.

Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage while gracing the event, urged students to avoid drugs and play an active role in environmental conservation.

Highlighting 2025 as the ‘Year of Youth,’ as declared by the state cabinet, she motivated students to focus on improving their academic performance, particularly in the CBSE Class X and XII results.

The deputy commissioner also discussed the harmful effects of plastic usage, the importance of preserving flora and fauna, and the need to maintain cleanliness for a healthy environment.

She encouraged students to lead disciplined lives to become responsible and successful citizens.

The programme successfully instilled a sense of responsibility among students toward building a sustainable and resilient future.
