Aalo, Feb 12: In a progressive step toward local economic empowerment, the West Siang district administration has mandated the use of products from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and beneficiaries of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY) in official meetings and events.
Deputy Commissioner Mamu Hage in a circular issued on Tuesday has directed all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to incorporate catering services from SHGs and eco-friendly products crafted by DDUSY beneficiaries into government programmes.
Under this initiative, SHGs will provide locally prepared refreshments and meals, while DDUSY entrepreneurs will supply sustainable alternatives such as eco-friendly plates and cups for official gatherings.
“This initiative embodies the spirit of Atma Nirbhar Arunachal Pradesh and Atma Nirbhar Bharat, fostering economic independence at the grassroots level,” the circular emphasized.
“The move not only strengthens local businesses and entrepreneurship but also aligns with the vision of a sustainable and self-sufficient Arunachal,” an official said.
The directive has been widely circulated to administrative officers, district officials, and relevant departments, urging all stakeholders to champion local entrepreneurs and contribute to Arunachal’s journey toward self-reliance.
