ITANAGAR, Feb 15: Governor KT Parnaik on Saturday extended his greetings to the people of the state, especially the Wancho community on the eve of the Oriah festival to be celebrated on Sunday.
He expressed hope that the festival will continue to celebrate and rejuvenate the vibrant legacy of their ancestors.
In his message, Parnaik said that festivals are a true reflection of the rich cultural heritage, strengthening social bonds and fostering unity across generations. They provide a platform for community elders to pass down their wisdom and tradition, ensuring the cultural essence remains alive and thriving.
“In this spirit, the Oriah festival holds deep significance as a sacred celebration seeking the blessings of the Almighty for the well-being of all. It plays a pivotal role in preserving the customs, values, and traditions of the Wancho tribe, reinforcing their identity and heritage,” he said.
On this festive occasion, I join my Wancho brethren in offering prayers to the Almighty for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all, Parnaik said in his message.
