RONO HILLS, Feb 15: The two-day national seminar on ‘Rejuvenating Ecosystem for Viksit Bharat’, organised by the commerce department of Rajiv Gandhi University, concluded on Saturday with a valedictory session that also marked the department’s second alumni meet.
The seminar brought together faculty members, students, and alumni to discuss the role of academia in fostering a sustainable and progressive ecosystem for national development.
The final day featured the third and last technical session for paper presentations. Prof SK Jena welcomed the guests, followed by Dr Atege Linggi’s presentation of the rapporteur report, summarising key discussions and insights from the seminar. Over the three technical sessions, 32 research papers were presented, contributing to discussions on sustainable economic and social progress.
During the second session of the day, the alumni meet was held, attended by around 15 former students of the commerce department.
Head of the department Prof RC Parida welcomed the gathering, while alumni association president Prof Tasi Kaye reflected on the department’s growth since its establishment in 1995 with just two faculty members and 20 students. He highlighted the department’s role in producing professionals across administration, academia, banking, law enforcement, and entrepreneurship.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Mihir Kumar Shome from the department of management and humanities at NIT Arunachal Pradesh spoke about the importance of perseverance and a positive mindset in overcoming challenges. He emphasised the role of hard work and dedication in shaping responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
In his concluding remarks, Jena extended gratitude to vice-chancellor Prof SK Nayak, Dr N T Rikam, Prof MBA Khan, Damodar Mishra, Ira Singal, Dr Akepi Linggi Ehili, and all faculty members for their contributions in making the event a success.
The seminar concluded with a call for stronger academic collaboration and intellectual engagement to drive national growth and development.
