Itanagar, Feb 21: Governor K T Parnaik on Friday conferred the State Gold and Silver Medals to distinguished organizations and individuals for their outstanding contributions and acts of bravery at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
The governor also presented the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration and felicitated medal winners from the 38th National Games recently held in Uttarakhand.
Among the recipients of the State Gold Medal were seven organizations and three individuals. The honoured organizations included Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing and Visually Impaired, Chimpu; the Cardiology Department at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences; the Women police station in Itanagar; Project Vartak under the Border Roads Organization; Donyi Polo Cultural & Charitable Trust; Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Khonsa; and the Centre for Bear Rehabilitation & Conservation at Pakke Tiger Reserve, Seijosa.
The three individuals who received the gold medal were Superintendent of Police (Anti-Corruption Bureau) Anant Mittal, Inspector Minli Geyi, officer-in-charge of Seppa police station, and Constable Jimkam Khomrang from Seppa police station.
The State Silver Medal was awarded to Neha Yadav, Principal of PTC Banderdewa; Chau Woipeng Manpoong, Circle Officer of Kurung Kumey; Sudhanshu Dhama, SP West Kameng; Moyir Basar Kamdak, DSP at SDRF, Chimpu; Kushal Bhander Kaystha, Entomologist from Tawang; and Dr Tashi Phuntso, In-charge Principal of Government College, Bomdila.
The Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration was presented to three government offices for their innovative governance initiatives. The Itanagar SP Office was recognized for its project "e-Services: Transforming Public Service Delivery in Arunachal Pradesh," which has enhanced transparency, responsiveness, and efficiency in police services through technology-driven solutions.
The Papum Pare deputy commissioner’s office received the award for its "Innovation Lab Project: Creative Catalyst & Speak SMART East," which promotes creative problem-solving and governance innovations.
The Department of Agriculture was also awarded for its "Championing Shree Anna (Millets) Initiatives" during the International Year of Millets 2023 and for establishing the first CPO Mill in Arunachal Pradesh. Each awardee received a cash prize of ?10 lakhs and an honorary scroll.
In addition to these awards, the governor honored athletes who excelled at the 38th National Games. Gold medal winners included Khinsan Wangsu, Rikpy Nyodu, Achum Sanga, Radha Bangsia, Lumter Uli (all in Taekwondo - Poomsae), Mercy Ngaimong (Wushu - Jiansu), and Nyeman Wangsu (Wushu - Daoshu).
Silver medalists included Miching Taja (Taekwondo - Poomsae Mixed-Pair) and Markio Tario (67 Kg Weightlifting) among many others.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including chief minister Pema Khandu, deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, MP Tapir Gao, MLAs, senior government officials, and special invitees. Chief Secretary Manish Gupta conducted the award distribution.
The governor and chief minister interacted with the awardees, congratulating them on their achievements and commending their dedication to the state’s progress.
