Itanagar, Mar 3: The Mass Communication department at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is set to host a day-long national seminar on "Culture, Community, and Communication in the Digital Era" on Tuesday.
The seminar will convene leading academicians, media professionals, and researchers to explore the evolving intersections of digital media, culture, and artificial intelligence. The event will have options for both offline and online participation.
RGU acting vice chancellor Prof Jaydeb Sahoo, will deliver the inaugural address, setting the tone for the day's discussions.
A highlight of the event will be the keynote address by Prof Govind Pandey, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University at Lucknow.
He will provide valuable insights into the transformative impact of digital media on cultural discourse.
A key session of the seminar is the panel discussion on "Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence."
To be moderated by Dr Sunil Koijam, Assistant Professor of mass communication, the session will feature distinguished panelists from leading institutions. The discussion will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage with experts on the challenges and opportunities artificial intelligence presents in today's media landscape.
Scholars, researchers, and students from reputed institutions across the country, including Mizoram University, Gauhati University, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tezpur University, Saint Xavier’s University (Kolkata), Central University of Karnataka, Sikkim University, and Amity University (Haryana), would attend the event.
Through the seminar, RGU aims to foster critical academic dialogue on the role of digital communication in shaping cultural narratives, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, media ethics, and technological advancements.
The seminar seeks to facilitate knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a deeper understanding of contemporary media dynamics.
