Itanagar, Mar 6: NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office celebrated International Women’s Day on Thursday at DK State Convention Centre here.
NABARD general manager D Mishra emphasized the significance of the day and highlighted various initiatives taken for women's empowerment.
He underscored this year’s theme, "March Forward: From Promises to Progress," as a powerful reminder that gender equality requires action, impact, and transformation.
He noted that the SHG-bank linkage program, women-focused skill development, livelihood support, and financial inclusion efforts have ensured that women are active change-makers in the socio-economic landscape.
Mishra elaborated that all programmes implemented should focus on gender equity and women empowerment.
Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society president Kani Nada Maling, in her address, delved into the challenges faced by women, including lack of opportunities and domestic and legal issues.
Raj Bhavan Dispensary medical officer Dr Maga Rija, Soil and Water Conservation officer Nido Pubyang, NIT Asst Prof Dr Preetisudha Meher, and Don Bosco College senior faculty Mudang Tuniya also spoke.
Representatives from SRLM, IIE, banks and civil society organizations also participated in the programme. Beneficiaries of NABARD supported initiatives attended the programme and elaborated upon their growth story.
A presentation on NABARD's initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh ranging from financial assistance for creation of rural infrastructure and supplementing resources of banks to developmental interventions in the field of innovative farm projects, development of rural enterprises and livelihoods, micro finance and overall financial inclusion was also made.
