Ziro, Mar 6: Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, on Thursday conducted a review of various developmental projects in Ziro Valley during his two-day maiden visit to the region.
Arriving on Wednesday, Naik visited key locations, including Gyati Takka General Hospital, Integrated Aqua Park at Tarin, Shivalinga at Kardo, PMAY (Urban) at Pai Gate, and Mihin Bagang Government Secondary School at Hapoli. He interacted with officials and the public to assess the functioning of these institutions.
On Thursday, Naik chaired a review meeting with the district administration and heads of departments at the Mini Secretariat, Ziro.
Discussions focused on progress under various social and developmental schemes, with an emphasis on five sectors—health, education, banking, infrastructure, and agriculture & allied sectors.
District Planning Officer Joram Tatum provided an overview of Lower Subansiri district, its people, and flagship programmes. District Agriculture Officer Tasso Butung highlighted the success of paddy-cum-fish culture in Ziro Valley and noted that the region is the country's largest producer of organic-certified kiwi under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCD-NER).
Civil Aviation and Vigilance commissioner, Swapnil Naik, informed the gathering about the Krishi Udan Scheme aimed at improving air transportation for agricultural produce. He stated that Tezu Airport has been selected under the scheme and suggested that Ziro Airport could also be recommended for inclusion to benefit local farmers.
Expressing appreciation for Ziro Valley's progress, Naik lauded the district’s potential to emerge as a leading region in Arunachal Pradesh.
He urged collective efforts from all stakeholders to achieve developmental goals and assured support from the central government in facilitating projects across ministries and departments.
The review meeting was attended by Lower Subansiri superintendent of police Keni Bagra, SDO Rani Perme, EAC Pema Dorjee, DIPRO in-charge Tai Arun, and other district officials.
