Itanagar, Mar 8: A two-day faculty development programme (FDP) on teaching, learning, and research skills, organised by the state Higher Education Council under the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, concluded on Saturday.
The initiative, spearheaded by Education Minister Passang Dorjee Sona, aimed at enhancing faculty members’ teaching and research capabilities to ensure quality education in colleges.
The FDP focused on equipping educators with modern pedagogical approaches, innovative teaching methodologies, and advanced research techniques.
The program covered a range of topics, including effective teaching strategies, technology integration in education, mentorship, and professional collaboration. It sought to empower faculty members to conduct high-quality research, improve student outcomes, and foster professional growth, ultimately leading to better job satisfaction and career advancement.
Speaking at the event, joint director of higher education Dr Joram Muthu urged college teachers to leverage the FDP to enhance classroom effectiveness, professional competence, and career growth, especially in the rapidly evolving technology-driven education sector.
He expressed gratitude to the state government and Higher Education Council for providing financial support for such an initiative, which he termed crucial for advancing higher education in the state.
In his keynote address, course coordinator Minto Ete emphasised the pivotal role of teachers in shaping society and the nation.
Calling teaching one of the most fulfilling professions, he encouraged faculty members to embrace new methods, take on challenges, and strive for excellence.
Ete highlighted that besides imparting knowledge; teachers must inspire, motivate, and empower students to become valuable contributors to society. He stressed the importance of continuous faculty development to keep up with the changing educational landscape influenced by technology and social media.
He further advocated for making such FDPs a regular practice to maintain high standards in higher education.
