Itanagar, Mar 10: The Shaurya Yatra, the longest and most ambitious bike rally ever undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces, was flagged off from Vijaynagar, a remote and strategically significant location in Changlang district.
The rally, a testament to the unwavering spirit and dedication of the defense personnel, will cover an astounding 3,900 kilometers, journey from the northeastern state to the rugged terrains of the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat.
The event was flagged off by retired rifleman of Assam Rifles Padam Singh Rawat, a 90-year-old veteran and the oldest ex-serviceman residing in Vijaynagar, in presence of other distinguished guests, a defence communiqué informed here.
Rawat’s presence in the event symbolised the rich legacy and sacrifices of those who have served the nation with valor and dedication. Alongside him, several other ex-servicemen and veer naris (war widows) attended the occasion, making it even more poignant and meaningful.
The Shaurya Yatra is not just a bike rally; it is a powerful symbol of unity, courage, and national pride. The event is being conducted under the inspiring theme of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat", signifying the strength of a united and integrated India.
The rally features an exceptional mix of participants, including personnel from the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army, as well as four passionate civilian riders from Arunachal Pradesh, who have joined the historic journey as a tribute to the nation’s armed forces.
The diverse and spirited group of riders is carrying forward a message of solidarity, resilience, and national integration, proving that India’s strength lies in its unity. Their expedition, which spans across some of the most challenging terrains in the country, is a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the armed forces and the people of India.
A deeply moving aspect of the ceremony was the opportunity for the participants to engage with the ex-servicemen and the veer naris of fallen soldiers. The interactions served as a heartfelt reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by the armed forces and their families in the service of the nation, the communiqué said.
Another significant highlight of the event was the promotion of the 'Bharat ke Veer' initiative, a noble campaign dedicated to honoring and supporting the families of soldiers who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
As part of the ceremony, awareness was raised about the importance of contributing to this cause to ensure that the families of fallen heroes receive the recognition, respect, and financial assistance they deserve.
The yatra also aims to ignite the spirit of patriotism and inspire the younger generation. By traversing the length and breadth of the country, the rally serves as a beacon of motivation, encouraging citizens to recognise the dedication of the armed forces and to contribute towards the collective strength of the nation.
