Naharlagun, Mar 10: A three-day training program for deputy commissioners from across the state commenced at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), in collaboration with the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, IIM Shillong. The programme, which runs from March 10 to March 12, aims to equip senior officers with advanced management skills and strategic governance insights.
The inaugural session was attended by member of the Board of Governors of IIM Shillong, Atul Kulkarni, who emphasized the importance of continuous capacity building for senior administrators to address evolving governance challenges. The sessions are being led by associate professor at IIM Shillong Rohit Dwivedi, and centre head of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, Sanjeev Ningombam.
The training program is designed to provide practical solutions to critical management challenges faced by Deputy Commissioners in their respective districts. It covers a range of topics, including strategy and policy development, emotionally intelligent leadership, systems thinking, design thinking, team building, conflict resolution, project performance management, effective e-governance, risk mitigation, and the application of artificial intelligence in governance.
The interactive modules aim to enhance strategic decision-making, leadership capabilities, and governance efficiency, enabling deputy commissioners to implement progressive administrative reforms. Speaking at the event, Atul Kulkarni underscored the role of innovation, leadership, and technology in modern governance, stating that deputy commissioners are the backbone of district administration and must be equipped with contemporary governance tools and leadership skills for effective service delivery.
