Itanagar, Mar 15: The Arunachal Pradesh Water Sports Association (APWSA) is set to participate in the 17th National Rafting Championship, scheduled to take place on the Sutlej River in Panduwa district, Himachal Pradesh, from March 20 to 25. The championship will bring together teams from across the country to compete in competitive rafting events.
A seven-member team from the state will represent the state in the event. The team includes some of the region’s top rafting athletes and will be led by APWSA Secretary-General Tatu Kartek. The official launch event for the team’s trek suits was held in Itanagar, with director of the Sports Authority of Arunachal, Gumnya Karbak, flagging off the event. The trek suits were sponsored by Lhoba Resort, represented by Okit Paling, and Donyi Hanggo Resort, owned by Nino Dai.
The team comprises athletes Tobang Perme, Nobang Tayeng, Kaleven Tayeng, Bijonto Pertin, and Bani Darin, along with team coach Geli Ete and manager Dhritiman Hazarika.
Dai, president of APWSA, extended his best wishes to the team, expressing confidence in their abilities to perform well in the championship. The 17th National Rafting Championship is expected to be a competitive event, with teams from across the country vying for top honours.
