Pasighat, Mar 17: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday inaugurated the Independent Golden Jubilee Government Higher Secondary School (IGJG HSS) Heritage Redevelopment Project under the Smart City Mission here.

After inspecting the newly developed state-of-the-art auditorium, smart classrooms, assembly hall, football stadium, and boundary wall, Mein commended the efforts of the Pasighat Smart City team led by CEO Dr Manjuli Komut.

He praised the successful execution of the project and announced plans to implement similar initiatives in other districts of Arunachal under the Smart City Mission.

The IGJG HSS Heritage Redevelopment Project aims to modernize and preserve Arunachal’s oldest educational institution, which has played a crucial role in shaping many eminent personalities of the state.

The project includes the redevelopment of the old auditorium while maintaining its heritage architecture, the transformation of the football ground into a world-standard football field, and the upgradation of IGJG HSS and its feeder schools with smart classrooms.

The school premises have been secured with the construction of a boundary wall to prevent encroachment, and a new assembly hall has been developed to enhance the overall infrastructure.

The Pasighat Smart City Development Corporation Limited reiterated its commitment to undertaking more transformative projects with a long-term vision for sustainability, aligning with the Smart City Mission’s goal of preserving heritage, improving infrastructure, and generating revenue.

The event was attended by education minister P D Sona, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, MLAs Tapi Darang, Ninong Ering, Oken Tayeng, Talom Taboh, Tojir Kadu, Puinnyo Apum, Oni Panyang, state BJP president Kaling Moyong, DC in-charge Tatling Pertin, SP Pankaj Lamba, DDSE Oduk Tabing and others.
