Lazu, Mar 17: On behalf of Khonsa West MLA Chakat Aboh, a relief team led by Tirang Sumnyan, President of the Elite Society of Dadam Area (ESDA), along with senior public leaders Riawang Kamhua and Nadhang Sumnyan, on Monday distributed essential relief materials to families affected by a devastating fire in Lazu village, in Tirap district recently.
The fire, which broke out in the early hours of March 14 last, completely destroyed four houses, reducing them to ashes. According to the victims, the blaze originated from a kitchen at approximately 10:30 PM.
In a phone message, Aboh urged residents of fire-prone hilly areas to ensure adequate spacing between houses during construction to mitigate the risk of recurring fire incidents. She expressed deep concern over the frequent fire outbreaks in the Khonsa West Assembly constituency, especially during the dry winter season.
As part of the relief efforts, each affected family received 25 pieces of CGI sheets along with other essential household items. Additionally, the district administration has also extended immediate relief to the fire victims to aid in their recovery.
The timely support from community leaders and authorities underscores the need for enhanced fire safety measures and swift relief efforts in vulnerable regions.
